I think Clattenburg's sudden resignation caught them out, without enough time to get Oliver (probably) in.

In more generic terms, well, seems plausible of them, doesn't it?

I have some recollection of it being reported that Clattenburg running dropped them in it too late to get someone else qualified by the cut off date.

He did. I think the players were pretty helpful, but there wasn't much complaint about anything.

Probably Friend in the final.

I think you missed my point, you always have a back up, and there was talk that Clattenburg was not going either

Already happened, how many English ref`s went to the world cup? They could not ref English games but they could ref foreign players playing in our league and were not trusted

Do u actually think bent refs care if they are not selected for the WC?!!After they've banked their earnings. ..really?

That is not punishment. It's a natural by product of cheating in the domestic league.
To be clear..I'm talking about refs being banned from prem matches ....for cheating. .which will never happen ,as another poster has said.,it's a cartel not a league. Non of these refs will care if they hv a summer off every 4 years.

Oliver against Tottenham (i expected him for the derby) and "cheat" Marinner for the derby, i don't remember in my lifetime when Marinner blew something in our favour.
