I'd like to see a couple of videos, side by side, running from the time Eddie got the free kick and his booking, compared to any fuckin' PL goalie, especially Raya! Bankes yesterday whipped out his card, puffed out his chest, strode mightily forward with the sword of the LotG and thrust the card heavenwards with utter exasperation at the few seconds Eddie had taken not to kick the ball. I don't know whether he was booked for timewasting or not taking the kick from the right place. Does the ref remember? Compare that example of ref indignation at traducing the LotG with the total indifference they show when it's an opposition goal kick! Cheating as cheating is! It's as bent as the proverbial corkscrew!

Van Dijk had to completely rip the guy's arm out of its socket, twist it off the shoulder, and fling it over the crossbar before VAR would intervene.

I wouldn’t say ‘even’ Keith Hackett. He’s pretty much the go to guy if you’re looking for criticism of current referees.

I don’t know who’s upset him but he’s certainly binned his refs union membership a long time ago.

In it's current guise, the the PGMOL is not fit for purpose, and the constant gaslighting from the PL and its broadcaster, Sky (and other broadcasters, to whom the PL allow to broadcast games, no doubt under strict conditions, of which I suspect one condition is to toe the party line when it comes to refereeing decisions) it just makes the whole thing a mess.

I was just making the small point that saying ‘even’ Keith Hackett is criticising something to do with current refereeing , is the equivalent of saying something like ‘even’ Rio Ferdinand is now hoping City get beat every week.

Why was he binned off?

He was actually one of the better referee's (which I appreciate isn't saying much), and I'm not sure he was actually 'binned off'. I think he'd just had enough of the way it was going, and reading between the lines he was probably right to go when he did.
