They needed to keep it a television spectacle otherwise the BBC would be upset. Who wants the underdog to be 2 nil down so early on ? and worse, who wants them to be 3-0 down with only 10 men on the pitch. It is called game management, the BBC have to think about the viewers and Mr Mason realised that. I think he should be applauded. It is like Strictly Come Dancing, you dont vote off the viewers favourite albeit shit dancer in the first week, this is the same thing.
You really don’t believe that, do you?

Absolutely i believe it.

One reason that game got picked for tv yesterday and it wasnt so the nation could watch us win. It was picked in the hope of an upset as that's the story, nothing else and Mason did his best to accommodate.

Trouble for them all right now is we really are that good that we can beat 12 men.

I have my doubts about pep staying beyond his three years and these tactics and refereeing failures are the main basis of those doubts.

We finally have a team on a par with the greatest Barcelona team ever (minus Messi). Playing beautiful football. And we get Neanderthal tactics vindicated by referees allowing open season.

It fucking stinks. And pep knows it does.

He doesn't need to stick around and deal with this shit

I was thinking this after the game, they will want to see pep gone at all costs this is one way to get at him it could end up wearing him down and would be job done...

Lee Mason had a poor game on Sunday but he wasn't helped by his assistant in the yellow flag a Mr Simon Long, who got 2 major decisions wrong. 1st was to flag for offside, when B. Silva scored, when the city player was level at worst. The other for not telling the ref that the tackle by Bennett was a high challenge and worthy of a red card, and not a yellow....

Simon Beck? Same assistant as failed to notice Walker 2 yards offside when Spurs beat us at WHL season before last.

Yeah fair enough.

I can’t believe after consulting each other they came to that decision, it was pure guess work and they decided to give it Cardiff’s favour because of the score and who they were playing.

Both need sacking.
How could anyone who loves football disallow a goal like that - smashed in, hitting the underside of the bar from outside the box - an absolute blinder.

The trouble with you none believers is you say 'where's your evidence' and 'why doesn't someone within the game say something' then when someone within the game does come out and say something you scoff at that as well. It wasn't me that used the phrase 'game management.'
Seperately we have had referees admit they were scared to give the opposition a corner at the Swamp , scared ! Seperately it was well known that if they fell out with the GPC they did not referee again at the Swamp so yes I believe in 'Game Management' because that is what they did to ensure they got the so called big matches at the Swamp. They managed the decisions not the letter of the law.
On Sunday Mason gave the TV public what they want and I certainy believe he didnt send Bennet off because he would be criticised for 'spoiling a classic cup tie.'

That’s a decent summing up of things..

Keith Hackett, still smarting from losing his job to Mike Riley, said three years ago that Mason was past it.

i still remember Vinny tackle over Nani some years back.
he get red card for malicious look tackle, but his tackle didn't even touch Nani leg.
i think the ref is mike dean.
now City players get leg breaking attempt tackle every week,
but the referee did nothing.
This...it stinks and Mason and Taylor need outing as rag biased twunts

How feasible would it be for our refs to be coached / moderated inline with Uefa guideline?- I believe they're all FIFA registered but ref's in Europe seem much less tolerant of the physical side of things in our game. Could, whoever, controls them pull our refs into line. It might stop our teams being penalised to death in games abroad too.

I posted similar in another thread. Send a player off and they're down to ten - spoils the game as a spectacle! And then there'll be those who would tell us that Joe Bennett exudes a rare passion for the game. Take his passion out of it and he would not be the same player. No, he wouldn't! He'd be quite harmless! And Sané would be walking into training this morning!
Agreed.....let’s set this straight....spitting is disgusting.....player got a six week ban.....take a player out for 4 weeks minimum......one Match ban.....ffs.....

Can City 'ask' that they do not get Mason again this or any other season.?
I suppose the vitriol - against City would be "Awsome"............
