To be fair, it's only the same small (albeit vocal) minority who try and dominate most political discussions on here with their right-wing rhetoric.
I'd say most people with any degree of compassion think we should be accepting refugees in the UK to help avert a humanitarian disaster.
Quite right.
However, I am utterly amazed that it is suddenly a disaster when I saw from Dubai four years ago that there was already civil war in the Middle East and the wealthier Syrians and Libyans, for example, were living in hotels in Dubai awaiting flights to the West, where they were warmly welcomed with their cash and assets.
This is a vastly complex subject. I wonder, for example, what Palestinians, who has spent 3, 4 or 5 generations living in refugee camps, think of Geldof offering his homes to Syrians.
I know one thing for sure. All refugees/migrants being offered homes in Germany, UK and elsewhere will never, ever go back to their former countries. Where does that leave Syria, for example? Assad has already said that he had run out of soldiers.
My tribal relatives in Afghanistan having been fighting a civil war for over two decades with no sign of peace. For me, the likes of Syria, Libya and Iraq are finished as viable countries and so the West should turn its minds to that void rather than posturing about tents in the garden.
I am deeply saddened to see the plight of the children. Hence, it sickens me to see the current hypocrisy and opportunism from the likes of that detestable Sturgeon woman.
Oh, and one more thing. I'll tell you why Germany want 'them'. They have an ageing population with fat bellies and equally fat pensions. Someone will have to wipe their arses, won't they? Don't be fooled by 'Mamma Merkel'. As with keeping Greece in the EU, she has Bundesbank at heart.
All is not what it seems.
Rant over.
