Relatively Obscure People Who’ve Led Amazing Lives

If you read a book called The Forgotten Highlander you will read about the life of Alistair Urquhart. He survived being imprisoned in a Japanese POW camp and built the Burma Railway. It's a harrowing yet fascinating life story and one which deserved to be told.
 
Came across this book the other day called, Beneath a scarlet sky.
Tell"s the true story of a 17 year old called Pino Lella and the amazing life he led during the 2nd world war.
 
I heard about this guy from watching Horrible History with the kids

He's something of an Internet meme is Adie, mostly because it's generally reckoned to be the finest paragraph on Wikipedia. And for those who haven't clicked, this is the insane paragraph in question:
