Remember Edin Dzeko?

Mahrez's first touch was a thing of beauty, dont think ive ever seen a player who could bring the ball under control like him. He was always a goal threat as well.
100%.

I think I recall seeing footage, maybe from England training(?), of Foden and Grealish pinging the ball across to each other, touchline to touchline, and bringing it down to a standstill in one touch, but what was so special about Mahrez, was his ability to do it consistently, under pressure, in a match situation, seemingly regardless of how hard it had been hit to him.

He wasn't even the best midfielder at City because David Silva was in the same team.
On his day he was the best. Wasn’t as consistent as David but by far the most naturally complete player we’ve had. As Kompany said he was frustrating because he should have been the best midfielder in the world for years.

He was too good to be back up and was at a stage in his career where he wanted to be first choice.

To be fair to Bony, he was good for Swansea and deserved the next move upwards in his career. I don't think anybody thought he was going to be as bad as he was for us.
Yeah Bony was electric at Swansea, that was beyond doubt. I was there the season he went past Kompany, and rifiled a low bullet shot, from distance ,past Joe Hart ,..,away day blues :(

To be fair, I loved Walsh at the time and he certainly did have a big impact when we first signed him, but by the time he left the club he was 33 and had 4 goals in 37 starts for us, so selling him was the right decision.

Creaney was definitely the wrong decision though...
If those stats are correct ...it puts things into perspective ,for me anyway
I do remember now, at the end of his time with us Walsh not having that energetic spark he'd had throughout his whole career.....age caught up with him suppose.
Definitely one of my fav ever City forwards, and he was already a great striker at Luton town ,when I first got into football An exciting player..as usual with City ,in those days,we got Walsh at the back end of his career...like Beardsley,Clough,Dalian Atkinson and many many more.
How times change !

Very different types. Silva was a subtle schemer, a chess player, Yaya was a driver. I’ll take both.
That wasn't the point that was made though.

If I were picking a team and I was told I could choose Silva or Yaya, in their prime, or just after it even, I'd take David Silva every time. However, that is just my opinion.

If Yaya had the work rate of Fernandinho, he would have been the best player who ever lived. His talent was phenomenal. So was his ability to sit on the floor whinging at the referee as the opposition countered us.

Consistency is part of being a great player though, no? Would you want a player who shows up every game and is very good to great every game or a player who is great once in every 3 to 5 games and anywhere from lazy as fuck to good in the others?

Happy to admit I never rated him. His touch was awful and when he started games he rarely did anything and he was incredibly lazy.

A player who seemingly is getting better as each year passes in the eyes of fans.

You want to talk about a top player who was never appreciated by most then I would argue riyad mahrez is that guy. A truly world class player who some hated after that penalty at Liverpool
FFS......

No i’d want consistency but was just saying at his best he was our most complete player

Silly comment. Stop it.
If fernandinho had the goal scoring ability and passing range of Yaya toure ,he'd be the best player who ever lived!
Different players ,different duties on the football pitch.....
Yaya Toure was the best person I've ever seen play the game. I,m proud to say I saw him at his peak.

Well I'm happy for you, but I thought he was constantly lazy, cost us goals, constantly spat his dummy out and refused to do even the most basic of defensive duties.
