Remember Edin Dzeko?

Discarded for Bony does make it sound bad!I do remember Edin looking disinterested and lazy,for his last season at least.That could be down to the fact that he thought he should be playing ahead of Sergio,who knows eh!?..

I know us fans love him and I do too.
But his non performances in his last season still leaves a bitter taste with me.

I look back on Dzeko's time at City really affectionately. He scored some important goals and he scored frequently enough as a rotation striker to make his transfer worth it. Plus he actually holds an impressive number of records for a journeyman player - to this day he's the only striker to score 50+ goals in the Premier League, Bundesliga, and Serie A. Helped Inter to a Champions League final recently as well, as we all know, and he's still banging them in for Fenerbahce. The fact that we replaced him with Bony meant that his departure definitely stung.

But he scored a grand total of 6 goals in his final season for City - four of which were against the might of Hull City (relegated) and Sheffield Wednesday - and spat his dummy out big time whenever Mancini or Pellegrini didn't pick him, despite us having Aguero, Tevez, and then Negredo while he was here. I still remember that home game against West Brom in 2013 when he scored and then shushed the crowd, as if we'd been the ones telling Mancini to drop him. I loved him and I still do but it was for the best that we let him go. His replacement being no good doesn't mean we shouldn't have sold him.

I remember the Hull game where David Silva was head 'n shoulders above anyone on the pitch, scored the first with a blinder and then set up Edin so many time until finally he scored the second. That game summed up Edin - he was either unplayable (Spurs game) or wretched, never seemed to hit anywhere in between.

Hull away was my favourite David Silva match and there's plenty too choose from.

No Dzeko, no Aguero, no premiership.

Also no Premier League in 2013/14 when Aguero went down and Edin stepped up with goal after goal in the run-in.

Great when he was hot. Mardy when he was cold. Could've and should've been twice the player.
Incredible signing at that time for us. Really gave us that next level feel.

For me Dzeko was someone who needed a consistent run in the team. It certainly never happened under Mancini who constantly rotated his four main strikers. For example, Dzeko scored four goals against Spurs away and was benched the next match.

In 2013-14 due to injuries to other strikers, Dzeko ended up playing virtually every match and had his most consistent scoring spell effectively firing City to the League title.

Hull away was my favourite David Silva match and there's plenty too choose from.

Yeah, where do you start picking out David Silva's games? The reverse passes, defence splitting passes, and goals. He never got the accolades from the RDAHMeedya. Just think, he'd have his own 'chapel' in the National Football Museum had he strutted his stuff clad in scarlet!

Frustrating at times and has seemingly got better since he left us but an integral part of that team nevertheless and deserves the acclaim for being a part of it.

Plus, he endeared himself to me for his tweet when the rags got stuffed 4-0 by MK Dons in the cup.

He was a great player. However, the human memory has a tendency to only remember the good times of people we like, and the bad of those we don't.

I would hazard a guess that if you were to trawl back through this site, you would see plenty of negatively towards Edin, especially during the period where he obviously lost the desire to play for the club due to constantly playing second fiddle to Sergio.

I like to just remember the good memories and leave them in the past. The club, like all of us in our own lives, make decisions, some good, some bad, hopefully learning from them, looking back fondly but focusing on what can be done better in the future.

Edin is a legend of this club, but his time had come, irrespective of what he went onto achieve after us.

Remember?! Who could forget him.

Fucking loved Edin. Always gave his best and, as David Platt said very eloquently, he scored "heavy goals".

Also will never forget that clip of him a couple of years ago, looking a bit worse for wear at some big event or other with his mates getting City chants going hahaha
