Replying to PMs

I've had a couple of PMs re my query about firesticks. I would like to acknowledge them or reply but it says "Plaese do not reply to this message -use Bluemoon Forum".
How do I reply using the public forum? Just post an acknowledgment mentioning the posters by name? Seems a bit public for a private reply.

Sorry to be dense, but I can't see an envelope icon on the PMs - just a box saying "open message in a new window" when I hover over it.
Do you mean at the top of the pm? Along the top of where?

On this screen there is an envelope to the right of your username.

That sounds like you're looking at the email notification I think. Go to Bluemoon, either through the browser or the App on a phone/tablet. You'll see the notification at the top.
