I bought a jacket on monday but have now decided its a little bit too big for my liking.

I still have the reciept and the tags but i took the tags off when i got home from buying it.

Do you think they will let me exchange it for one of a smaller size?

Should be no problem, so long as you have everything you say and it's not been worn. But they don't have to give you a refund, just a credit note...

they don't have to do anything. Caveat emptor.

For property buyer beware is valid. Not sure if it applies to retail. If you have your recipt you have a 14 day cooling off period and they have to give you your money back.

Having worked in retail in my youth, I KNOW that there isn't one shop on the high street that would refuse to at least give you a credit note... They don't HAVE to.. But they will!

What utter tosh! You are peddling dangerous nonsense.
This applies to internet sales only, services or salesmen in your home.
High street stores don't have to do anything.

Look at Q12 and the answer on here

You are only entitled to a refund if the goods are defective, not as described or not fit for their purpose.

I think I may be able to help you here, 1st of all where did you buy it from ? Is it definitely unworn ? Check your receipt there should be a trailer that say's what that particular policy is for a refund - most would be extended because of Xmas anyway ? If it was bought from Suits You in Trafford Centre fuck off and return it to Lowry or Arndale LOL only joking mate !!
