Rhodri Giggs has opened up about his brother's devastating eight-year affair with his ex-wife Natasha.

The former Manchester United footballer's younger brother revealed that Ryan came to see him six weeks after the shocking news of the affair came to light, but they haven't spoken since then.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning, Rhodri said the former Manchester United star told him the affair was only ever about sex, but he never tried to make amends or offer an apology.

When asked if it would be better to resolve it privately rather than talking about it on TV, the 37-year-old replied: "If my brother tried to make amends I wouldn’t be here today.

"Of course I’d like to try and bridge the gap. I've given up hope on speaking to him."

He said it was impossible to try and make the marriage work, but now he's finally moved on.

"I’ve got a young child and a beautiful girlfriend. I’ve moved on,"

Rhodri revealed he grew suspicious of the affair in 2008 after discovering texts on Natasha's phone on a night out in Manchester, but it wasn't confirmed until Natasha's mum and sister turned up on his doorstep with the newspaper the day the story broke, despite the ex-Welsh international had taken out a gagging order on newspapers to prevent his name being revealed.

It later emerged that Ryan, whose wife Stacey stood by his side, allegedly gave Natasha money to terminate their unborn baby - while she was preparing to tie the knot to Rhodri in 2010.

The news of the affair destroyed the family, with Rhodri telling the hosts: "I don’t speak to my family and my family don’t speak to me. They speak to my sister, but that’s it."

When Phillip says it's a heartbreaking story, Rhodri replied: "It’s sad, but part of my life, I suppose. I feel hurt. But life goes on."

While Ryan didn't comment, Natasha told the show: "I took full blame for what happened and we have been quite amicable until now so I don’t know why he chose to bring it up."

The brother of Cardiff-born Manchester United superstar Ryan Giggs has been jailed for nine months after attacking a man outside a nightclub.
Rhodri Giggs, 24, who played for north Wales side Bangor City last season, was arrested after two men were injured at the Ampersand nightclub in Manchester, following a row about football.
In an incident caught on CCTV, Giggs - who now lives in Manchester - struck the other with a beer bottle, cutting his head.
Giggs was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two days after his Welsh international sibling scooped a £1m testimonial match windfall.
Judge Anthony Ensor told him: "I deal with you in the same way I would any person appearing before me and totally irrespective of your family background.
"The use of a bottle as a weapon can never be justified."
He added that if the bottle had shattered, Giggs would have been facing a more serious charge.
Prosecuting, Mark Ainsworth told the court that the attack happened in the early hours of Sunday, 18 June last year when he went to the nightclub with friend Christopher Doyle, also 24.
There they met Andrew Cartwright and Colin Slamon.
"They had a heated conversation with the defendants but it calmed down," Mr Ainsworth said.
"Later, Cartwright and Slamon left the nightclub but, as they came down the stairs, they saw Doyle on the stairway.
"As they left, he was heard to say 'they're coming' to people outside. When Cartwright came outside, he was approached by Doyle and was struck on the face.
"Colin Slamon could see what was going on and he tried to help, but Giggs struck him on the head with a bottle, causing a small cut."
Mr Cartwright was taken to hospital to have 10 stitches put in the back of his head and inside his mouth and a cut lip.
Giggs admitted he was involved in the incident but claimed he acted in self-defence and did not realise he was holding a bottle.
Defence counsel Hugh McKee said: "To have a brother who is so famous does create problems and difficulties - especially when Manchester United supporters recognise him. (I think the £1,000 an hour bufoon meant City)
"Alcohol must have played a part, but it is not an excuse and it tends to fuel arguments. He found himself at odds with people talking about football."

An absolute scumbag from a family of absolute scumbags who married an absolute scumbag.
It is hard not to feel any sympathy whatsoever for a shambolic travesty of a man who is so ridiculed and disrespected by all in his circle that he is even cuckolded by his own brother, but this shitkicker somehow manages it.
Plenty on here have had previous with this jabroni. I think citykev28 to name just one has a few tales about him.
 
Ryan does the dirty but the family stop talking to Rhodri? A well, follow the money, I guess. Seem like a lovely family.
 
Rhodri was always a pain in the arse,had himself down as something of a bad boy and mixed within similar circles.I've no doubt it wasn't easy living in the shadow of Ryan,and while he had a half decent footballing talent himself.......he probably felt somewhat of a failure in comparison to his superstar brother,which maybe prompted his choice of lifestyle.

I used to see them both out and about quite regular and I got the impression Ryan saw his sibling as a bit of an embarrassment,funny how he ended up becoming similar......
 
One of those Rhodri attacked was my brother in law, who happens to be a total KFA when it comes to football, so there's precisely 0% chance he would start an argument about it!
