''Richard Edghill made his Premiership debut at 17 and was soon an England Under-21 international. A pacy defender who could play anywhere across the back four, he caught the eye of England manager Terry Venables; but a devastating knee injury then sidelined him for 21 months, by which time his beloved Manchester City were headed for the third division. Rather than jump ship Edghill stayed to lead the revival back to the Premiership. With three promotions and three relegations at City, serving under nine managers and three different chairmen, the ups and downs of Richard's rollercoaster career will strike a chord with any City fan who went through similar agonies and ecstasies. A scapegoat, a dreamer, a fiercely loyal Premier League star: although Richard never enjoyed the huge salaries or adulation of some of his colleagues, Once a Blue Always a Blue presents an overwhelmingly human story.''

Fair play to that man, after the horrific abuse he suffered from certain sections of crowd he still has time for club and most importantly supporters, for a right back who had never scored a goal for the club he showed some ball taking that penalty at Wembley, I wont mind admitting I thought "ffs Edgehill is taking a pen" as he walked up at Wembley, a lot of respect, ill be picking this up.

Look forward to reading this and hope he gets some decent money out of it, always had time for the lad, a top blue.

You're kidding, aren't you? The author might get a couple of hundred quid and edgy will be lucky to get a pint out of it.

I aways think of Edghill when some of our fans get comically sentimental about the putative recent decline in standards amongst our support. He was the outlet for much of the poisonous frustration amongst our support towards the end of the last century.

Hope he does as well as can be expected out if it.

Sadly this is the case with authors (ask Gary James!) - unless you are JK Rowling getting a huge advance, there is not much money to be made in books (or the publishers simply don't pay you!)
Some ex players are able to make money from serialising excerpts in newspapers, but they don't make that much from actual book sales.
Good luck to Richard and Dante

Especially as for me it stemmed from Coventry at home and inho it was weavers fault for Bellamy goal not Richard's

If you're going to write an autobiography you want to do it when you retire and there is still some interest in either yourself or the time you are playing in.

I can't see many people wanting to buy this book. He should have released it 10 years ago!
