On Sunday 13th September, I will be power walking my way round the Morrisons Great North Run Half Marathon in Newcastle-upon-Tyne after gaining entry via the free ballot. I am the General Secretary of the Manchester City Supporters Club, Wessex Blues, based in Poole, Dorset. One of our branch members Wayne Millington recently, sadly has been confirmed with terminal cancer. Therefore with this sad news I will be power walking this event and supporting Forest Holme Hospice (a charity based in Poole enhancing the quality of life for patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses).
I power walked the Great North Run Half Marathon back in September 2012 in a time of 02:51:50. So being three years older and regrettably not trained as much as hoped, a completion time of 3 to 3 hours 15 minutes is expected next Sunday.
Weather permitting, I will be dressed in fancy dress in a blue Santa suit to represent the colours of Manchester City.
I would like to try and give the charity all the support I can. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the charity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
