Manchester City defender Micah Richards has spoken of the Premier League side's confidence ahead of their UEFA Cup last-32 clash at the City of Manchester stadium, with the fixture delicately poised at 2-2 after the first-leg.

Mark Hughes' men looked to be in the driving seat against their Danish counterparts as Nedum Onouha saw a tame effort somehow filter through Jesper Christiansen's hands and into the back of the net, though Ailton Almeida equalised for the home side.

A fine Stephen Ireland goal edged City back in front, before the hosts drew themselves level once again as Martin Vingaard evaded the visitor's defence and headed home to leave the sides level going into the return fixture.

The Eastlanders secured an impressive 1-1 draw away at Liverpool last weekend, the defence in particular looking solid after an inconsistent season thus far, and Richards believes the team will go into Thursday's match high on confidence.

"We got a good result at the weekend, and we were solid in all positions which was required against a side like Liverpool," the 20-year-old told Goal.com.

"We're full of confidence and believe we can see off Copenhagen and reach the last-16 of the UEFA Cup.

"They shouldn't be underestimated as they showed in the first-leg that they don't give up, but we have the quality needed to progress further in the competition.

"We have to go out there and play well on the night or else we'll be punished, but as long as we maintain our focus I think we'll win."

Funny now he talks about maintaining his focus yet he routinely lets wingers put crosses that lead to goals - Stoke and Liverpool spring to mind.

Doesn't bother me that much if a player makes a genuine error, but when he half arsed jogs back and doesn't even attempt to block the cross, it really annoys me.
