Richards Interview (The Sun With Quotes)

How we neglected Nedum Onuoha over this plank is beyond me.

Nedum isn't good enough either and slagged us off on national TV.

Mancini was right to get rid, as he should do with Micah unless he apologises and accepts he's had more than a fair share of starts even though we have 3 RB's in the squad.

He's deluded if he thinks he should start every game

I think the point is that he doesn't want to leave and this is a form of either getting attention from Mancini or getting attention from other clubs.
But anyway, there's a form of double standard going around here. Tevez does it or Hart and all things are rosey and daisy, and god no please don't leave. But a player like Richards does it and it's shut up or fuck off.
There's very little loyalty left in the game and it's very sad if you ask me.

you still won't understand.

tevez is good enough . hart is good enough. they has to stay.

micah is not good enough . Given IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. they can go if they want.

And that is my point. Tevez throws a fit and demands to leave and by the sounds of it he was all but tied down when they convinced him to stay, so he can act as bratty as he likse we'll still fall over ourselves in admiring him, despite the lack of loaylty or respect he's showed the club, and the fact that it's clear he'd leave at the drop of a hat if the right offer came in. Despite the fact that he's our "star" player. And plays nearly every single one of our games.

As for Given he was good enough to get us to 5th (and it would have been 4th I believe if he wasn't injured) last season when our team was a lot weaker. But the younger English model came along so we all knew where that would go. But that's fine. Because Hart has shown he's a good keeper, something I had a lot of doubts about and he's done well. I don't believe the hype about him being the best in the world, or the league for that matter, but he hasn't self destructed yet. And fair play for that.

But Richards says he'd like to play more. And he can just shut the fuck up or leave.
That's very poor form, and for me shows football, and their fans, at it's worst.

That would be fine. I have no issues with his feelings. If he wants 1st team football and Mancini cannot guarantee that, fine, leave. But he doesn't need to go to the press. He could have kept this inhouse and had his agent find a club.

I said at the time Hart and Given were wrong giving ultimatums and DD will tell you that I was castegating tevez for his little stunt.

I still think Tevez is a selfish cock and don't sing his name though I would celebrate his goals if he found his shooting boots. I am under no illusion that Tevez will be here next season but if he helps us to the champs league then I will doff my cap to him.

I totally agree about Onuoha's public display of petulance. It was outrageous and he rightly got the boot. But that was only after years of getting his head down and trying to break into the side. His professionalism was exceptional prior to his hissy fit. Richards, on the other hand, has been giving it Billy Big Nuts for yonks with little worthy product.

Now Ned's getting his chance at Sunderland and by all accounts has taken the place by storm.

he should be fined 2 weeks wages , and told to apologise to management and players , richards has got a big mouth and is always spouting off in the press , you think his agent would f*cking advise him to shut up , (but he probably got 10% of the fee from the sun)

yeah, I put him in my Premier League team of the season so far but I think that's his level, I don't think he's good enough to play week in, week out for us, I'd rather say that we developed him as much as we could and let him go to Sunderland permanently and play week in, week out in return for his hard work over the years.

If Micah wasn't homegrown he'd be gone by now.

well then you obviously didn't read all the reaction to Tevez's transfer request, because he got a battering on here.

Ya he DID. That lasted for the day, and we're falling over ourselves again. Because he scored. Despite the fact that he lacks loyalty in every sense of the word, it's all ok because he'll score us goals. He gets paid a ridiculous amount and starts every game.
But Richards says he is thinking of leaving because he's not getting enough game time, which will effect his chances of being picked for England..etc and it's shut up or fuck off, because nobody cares.
This if football in 2011.
It's so infurriating.

He's done himself no favours. I can understand him wanting to leave to get a regular start and even admire that quality in a player. Bringing your team mates into it however, is clueless and classless. Talking to a redtop and in particular The Sun makes it even worse.
Micah isn't good enough for a top 4 team so I'd let him go to Spurs and squeeze them for as much money as possible. If Mancini can't teach him about positioning and keeping his concentration for 90 mins then 'arry has no chance.

Micah could easily get his head down, apologise privately and put in some sterling performances and get the same reaction.

It's up to him, fans just react to the situation presented, some have double standards, others don't.

What's more infuriating is the unprofessionalism of players imo.

This isn't an amateur thing, because supporters of amatuer sports/teams, act a hell of a lot better than a lot of football fans. This is a pure football thing.
And it's not about ruthless for success.
Fans can still respect players, can still be loyal to players if they wanted to. But that's football. We expect Richards to be loyal and to keep his mouth shut, but we can be as disloyal and abusive towards a player as we like.

So the big question he really needs to ask himself is whether winning domestic and European trophies with a club is more important to him than taking a step down the league (which is what he will have to do) and give himself a chance of pulling the increasingly discredited England shirt on.

Then why do you so persist in posting on here?

You ignore all correct points (such as reading between lines, not involving AJ or SWP) and just post glib criticism of the forum.

Never truer words spoken.

Yep. Still don't get the problem. The boy says he wants to be playing regularly. He says that he understands why people would think he's crazy for wanting to leave City right now, but that for him playing is the most important thing. Fair enough.

He mentions SWP being frustrated - is that really even worth a batting of the eyelid. After all Jo is getting premiership games ahead of him. He mentions AJ. Well, AJ said as much not two months ago. Again, hardly shocking.

Really I don't understand this need by people on this forum to castigate players - it's almost like you're all harking for the good old days before agents and tabloids and internet forums. You can't un-invent the wheel. As Mancini would say "this is football". We should just get on with it and not throw tantrums whenever a player says he wants to leave.

Micah keeps getting called a bitch and a pussy and stupid etc. Maybe it's time us supporters man up just a little and accept what the modern game and the modern professionals have become.
