Richards- whats happened ?

Like many others on this board, really pleasantly surprised by his recent improvement. Seems to have knuckled down and is putting his best assets to better use again. Defensive concentration today compared to last years derby was much better and very encouraging for the future.

He's starting to look like the player we all though he could be when he burst on the scene, I hope he keeps it up. I also think its worth saying (as there seems to be a school of thought that he's a big time Charlie) that he is an absolutely smashing lad (based on one evening I spent with him) and showed real loyalty to us when we were poor and he was being lorded by everyone and arsenal/chelsea were sniffing around. He also appears to have a genuine like/affinity with the club.
 
I've never rated Richards, always thought he was an athlete rather than a footballer but in 2011 his technique has improved.
 
Richards was absoluely fantastic today, he played with his heart and more improtantly with his head. There were a couple of balls that went beyond the two centre halfs and Richards met every one of them. I genuinely do think he just lacks a bit of concentration sometimes, that's his one and only fault in my book. He loves the club, he plays with passion and he seems to have got that "playing without fear" mentality back. He's playing with a smile again and enjoying his football.
 
I've been so thoroughly surprised and pleased with his recent form, as has been said he's playing with much more composure with the ball at his feet, and seems to have regained some of the pace and dynamism that had been thought lost.

Long may it continue; should this good form be kept up then the possibilities are limitless for Micah!
