Right back options……

you drop the right winger for a 10? let the 8 create the box mid again as we did with Gvardiol/Foden combo end of last season
It’s probably because I’m an FOC but I prefer symmetry. These over elaborate formations just seem unnecessary. As soon as one player in that system is injured we don’t seem to be capable to use it again until that player is fit.

kinda the same, just wanted to know how he sees it. we know it can work but with the box mid we did you lose a winger.

Yeah its just a thought
I appreciate it is a thought.

We all try and work out how best to use the players we have and then try and think how we can improve the team if we had the monies to replace and set up the team if we were the manager, it’s what fans do.

It’s all irrelevant for us in the end because the manager decides, lol. Great for discussion though.

What are Walkers weakness and strengths, as we do have to look at how it effects the team overall.
Weakness first touch, passing and awareness. Nearly any player we buy will be better and improve the team.
Strengths, pace, power, heading and stamina, there are very few to match him on these, so any lower others in the squad will have to take up.
Five names which is the best?
Hakimi needs no introduction.
Gusto, classy little number.
Frimpong ex academy.
Porro, we know can do the job.
Simakan, bit like Akanji, but a better footballer.

he can also play CB in a three.

He’s not inserting next to his gut ahead in a diamond with gundo inthe middle and Foden at the tip. Just too much ground to cover for all of them. Kivas alone and Rico has full back to cover as well, nowhere near enough legs or possession benefit for me. Hating it more every game
Despise it. It's a shit plan and it's killing us. Pep has cooked up some beauties over the years. This isn't one of them. Even the greatest chefs serve something shit on occasion. Because it's Pep he gets much more leeway and DESERVEDLY so, but any other manager in the Prem would be getting cooked for playing a system in which the demands of said system and the personnel available to suit that system don't match. And it's not all that difficult to come to this conclusion. Just watch the games.

And can we try to avoid the tired "So you know better than Pep?" rhetoric? I'm not saying anything of the sort. I'm simply saying this particular Pep plan is failing miserably given this squad of players. Why? Because it is.

Frimpong is a fun player but is awful defensively. People moaned about Cancelo's defending. Frimpong is much worse. He's also physically weak compared to even Rico. Gets pushed off the ball. Admittedly, he isn't tasked to defend much and everyone in Bundiesliga seem to play a hilariously high line.

I'd be wary of both Leverkusen's wing backs tbh. Can't hold down spots in their national teams and limited overall interest. Jeremie had a £34m release clause in the summer (not sure if it's still valid) but no real interest.

Personally, the only system I see frimpong succeeding in the prem is if we play prime Klopp ball in attack, where he can be the main creative player on the right flank and be protected by the CBs and 3 hardworking mids.
