RIP Bill Lyons (@Bill, previously @de niro) update re funeral pg 51/JustGiving link p52

Only met Bill once in his shop but i didn't know him. I would have liked to have known him because i think we'd have got on. He PMd me a few times with warnings and possibly banned me. No hard feelings since though. I know PB banned me when he was a mod and we laughed it off at a meet up. I've met Colin a few times since and have the utmost respect for him especially for giving me 2 match tickets from the kindness of his heart. Thanks mate.

Although there's quite a bit of arguing and dick measuring on this forum it's not like that at meet ups and games, and I've met at least 40 blues off here and all have been sound in the real world.
At one point Bill banned me 5 times in a row at night because i was being a dick. He would ring me and tell me to go to bed.

I spoke with my friend Jane earlier today, Bill drove us to the Stoke away game in the FA Cup, she had not met him before but was captivated by his charm she asked i add her condolences

Also to those who know, we used to have a resident rag on here called Clappers, he turned up at Scarblu's wake in the Waldorf and got to know a good few lads and girls from here. He had heard of Bills passing and said what a lovely man he was, Bill and Clappers had some real banter back in the day, but enjoyed mutual respect.

Bill touched many people, such was his warmth and charm, love of City and his genuine humanity, it was real, he was not a fake.

I’m so saddened to report the passing of Bill Lyons who finally lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease yesterday.

Bill was a true legend as I’m sure many on here will testify.

It was my honour to do many trips with him, I particularly European away where we would room together.

So many brilliant memories of happy times.

Sleep well and rest in peace Bill.

Thoughts with Jeanie, Martin, Jess, Jenna and the whole family.

I am aware that, at Bill’s request, they do want to keep things private.
I met him in Munich a few years ago outside a bar and soon after we had about 15 Blues who didnt know each other previously out on a pre match pub crawl.

Very sad news, lovely bloke.

Very sad news indeed, only met him 2 or 3 times, myself and some friends met up with him and some of his family and had a lovely lunch together en route to Wembley a few years back now, lovely man, rest peacefully Bill.

My best wishes to his family , an insidious disease that unfortunately leaves no prisoners.

See you in bluemoon heaven one day Bill.

So sad to read this and sending my best wishes to his family and friends.

It's fairly daunting when you first start posting on here. I had followed for a while but jumped on board and eventually navigated my way through. Always wary of the Mods of course! Bill always came across as a lovely bloke with a great sense of humour.

RIP x
