Sadly he lost the plot in his latter years and you would have thought that a smart guy like into botany would not have turned into a climate denier.

And I think it was his questioning of climate change that the most august and impartial broadcasting corporation the world has ever seen fucked him off the airwaves! There was a lovely phrase in his obit in the DT this morning - ' . . . . . to turn a wheel yer need a crank!"
