Hotel and train tickets booked, any other old or even young heavy rockers on bluemoon going to this gig, his only UK date where he will play all the old Rainbow and Deep Purple classics.

I can't wait, 1983 the last time I saw him live. Sensational rock guitarist and the best ever imo.

Saw him in Liverpool in 1982 at the Empire Court. Bought the tickets from Piccadilly Records along with coach travel. I remember Bobby Rondinelli kicking his bass drum before the concert got under way. The noise just went right through me, an amazing feeling. Absolutely fantastic gig including "Catch the Rainbow" which blew everyone away.

I haven't got a ticket for his gig in Birmingham as of yet so will be looking at the usual ticket outlets in the near future. It's going to be a treat for myself to watch the best guitarist on the planet one last time before he hangs his rock plectrum up.

Couple of questions...
Whats the band line up these days??
Didn't Richie go a bit medieval ...Blackmores Hat? ...Puritan rock or something?

Would love to see Rainbow....preferred Bonney to Dio though...

Yep Blackmore hasn't played rock music for 20 years or more. He's been living in a medieval world ever since his band is Blackmores Night and they are not my cup of tea at all. They do a version of Child In Time and absolutely destroy a memorable live song from the 70's.

However he stated that turning 70 he wanted to play rock for one last time. Current line up is:

Ritchie Blackmore Guitar
Ronnie Romero Vox
Jens Johansson keyboards
David Keith Drums
Bob Nouveau Bass

Here's the singer and his version of a couple of well known Rainbow/Purple classics.
