Far from the worst out there but shouldn't have started. Called it in the pre match thread that we needed someone with more defensive nous and energy to defend Shaw running from deep

What can you do if Cancelo doesn’t have positional sense that in some locations, lunging in is not a good idea?! Mahrez was probably the best of the front 3 overall combing both tracking back and going forward.

Mahrez did more than his stint defensively today. Its easy to say shaw is his man because they're facing up directly on the teamsheet but that's not really how it works. More often than not any fullback that goes beyond the halfway line against us gets passed on to the 8 on tht side with the winger coming inside unless the ball is on the opposite side then he's expected to track. Its Bernardo that's usually in there covering, today it should have been kdb, he was out there but he didn't have the legs to do it and constantly allowed them space

I feel like this decent run of form he’s in is beneficial to us if we were to offload him this summer. We could get a decent figure if teams are interested. Madrid have been linked to him recently, but it’s probably bullshit.

He has been a lot better recently but his decision making is still preventing him from being a name in every blues best 11 to a player we can rightly complain about.

His technique and ability with the ball is sensational. But he has to get better with his decision making. When to pass, when to take that extra touch, and when to shoot. It's the same with Sterling, but Mahrez is much more difficult to defend against with the ball at his feet. He sits people down consistently but has to find that end product more. Get that right, as he did for Leicester and he'll go up another level again.

The counter attack was frustrating. That was perfect Mahrez territory. The type of thing he did countless times with Vardy at Leicester when they won the league. But he kept the ball for far too long.

I've just noticed there may be a chance we lose Mahrez for a few weeks in December next season. There is scheduled to be a 2021 FIFA Arab Cup staged in Qatar from 1st to 18th December. https://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/...-teams-will-participate-in-fifa-arab-cup-2021

It is a sort of trail run for the World Cup in 2022, a bit like the old Confederations Cup which FIFA scrapped a couple of years ago (with the intention of replacing with a Club World Club Championship but Covid happened)

22 Countries from the Arab world are taking apart including Algeria, so I assume if Mahrez is called up, and you'd expect Algeria will want there captain to play, we will have to let him go a bit like we had to let Yaya go to the African Cup of Nations.

Will also apply to Egypt (Salah Liverpool), Morocco (Ziyech Chelsea & Saiss Wolves), also Benrahma at West Ham is Algerian

Anyway, thought it was worth flagging
