Riyad Mahrez

Let’s be Real, you’ve been in the CL once. The chance of you ever becoming regulars with the current top 6 there is next to nothing. When Mahrez signed that contract I’m sure he signed it thinking they would sell him for a £40 million + offer. The fact you wanted around £40 million off Roma last summer makes this stance from your club look like nothing but pure greed. I’m sure 2 years ago Mahrez was under the impression that a £60 million + offer would be accepted instantly. Leicester just moved the goalposts after the Coutinho and VVD deal and that’s unfair on Mahrez.

Well if that’s the case, shouldn’t he have insisted on a buy out clause when signing his contract or does this not work in the uk?

Why should he honor it? They didn't honor their pledge to sell him. FOUR times. He is being fined by the club. As long as he is willing to take the fine, I have no problem.
He shouldn't stay away, he should come to training and tell them he's going to sulk on the pitch and put one in his own net the first chance he gets.

On the issue of people moaning about City spending too much, it's been going on ever since football began! The sugar daddy benefactor was a huge part of football, with every club dreaming of a multi-millionaire to come and splurge their cheque-book. This is not new! Remember the Jack Walker "fairytale"? (How Alan Shearer has the nerve to complain about clubs spending too much after taking the Jack Walker dollar, smacks hard of hypocrisy. But, he's not the only ex-pro who's become rich due to the spending of rich oweners). Then we had the Leeds United "Dream", not to mention United fans drooling over the prospect of Robert Maxwell, then Michael Knighton (remember him ball juggling on the Trafford pitch?) funding their next spending spree. Mike Ashley at Newcastle, American owners at Liverpool, Villa, Sunderland etc, Venky's etc. The list is endless of clubs who's fans have welcomed what they thought were cashed-up new owners, only to turn around and complain about other clubs "ruining football" when their shiny new owners don't stump up as much as they expected.

Well done Leicester City - seriously p****d off your best player. Good luck getting 10% effort from him now if he returns - depression can be far worse than you could possibly imagine. Seriously think there is more to this (unwritten agreement and somebody has stuck their oar in and caused trouble) - Leicesters player under contract but I know and you do too if there was any player wanting away from us for any reason then if at all possible it would be made to happen Somebody at Leicester seems determined to keep the player against his will. Ok he signed a contract but the last thing I would want to see us do is keep a player who has no ìnterest in playing for the club.

The chances of becoming regulars in the top 6 is next to none? What a load of rubbish, never thought I'd hear a Man City fan say that. People would have been saying that about your club only 7 or 8 years ago.

Can't we just close this thread , we bid for the player it was knocked back , over & out .
All this is now is a platform for Leicester fans to try & take the moral high ground against big bad money bags City , we get it , we've heard it for years Leicester fans & it's boring now.

I think the guy is being real. Yes our chances of finishing within top 6 at the time was non existent but it's not so now. Because no one can accurately tell what will become of Leicester tomorrow, we don't know whether they'll make top 6 anytime soon however in this moment it's safe to say the chances of Leicester finishing consistently within top 6 is unlikely.

Just saw this, lol, and don't think i'd call it genius..

Leicester City fan's genius email to Man City about tickets perfectly sums up Riyad Mahrez transfer saga - ...

Unless you get some serious money investing in you like City did, you won’t be breaking into the top 6. I’d love it if you did because I don’t mind Leicester. The top 6 are to strong financially.

If they hold the 95m valuation they Mahrez will stay at LCFC. The Neymar money produced a temporary spike in values. Teams for which the Neymar money did not trickle down are not paying that kind of money for players. How many players have been purchased at over 100m not with PSG's money? The rest of the market is gradually increasing, not spiking. Mahrez "should" go for slightly more than PEA and shouldn't be measured against Neymar or Coutinho at all.
