Everyone is saying foden is going central I am of the opinion that he’s going to play out wide as in RM. Hence why the club will not stand in Mahrez’s way. Kovacic is going to feature a lot more than some may think as he is a ball retainer something that a pep loves. I can not see Phil playing centrally with KDB, maybe when KDB hangs his boots up is when Phil goes in there.

Like alvarez but Mahrez is a proven big game player. Year after year he has stepped up for us if he leaves it will be a big miss.

I agree but he is coming to the end of his career. Alvarez may or may not be the future but Mahrez definitely isn’t.

And Oscar Bobb. Probably more suited to playing out wide than McAtee

Possible but it still takes time to make the step up and with McAtee he has had a successful loan spell.

The absolute biggest games he was left out. We have other/better options.

Foden could do pretty.much what Mahrez does out there but with better speed and workrate. I know there's talk he'll play more centrally, but maybe he won't. Or Bernardo can do what he did out there late on last season, if he stays.

And we need to make sure Alvarez is included. The guy is just supremely effective.

Then we have Palmer, who could play in a similar way to Mahrez, though perhaps we'd need a little patience.

Or maybe McAtee now that he's back. He could operate from a wide position, or perhaps more centrally allowing Foden to play on the right.

We have a load of options already. If the perfect replacement is out there then I'm all for it, but I think we could sell while replacing from within.

I'd argue you have them the wrong way around, Bobb looked decent when playing out wide but he's been stellar for the U21s when he moved infield in a (dare I say it) David Silva role. McAtee could be Foden like in being able to play anywhere in the attacking positions.

They didn't say they were, but time marches on so if we can get a decent fee and he's going to Saudi rather than a competitor then we can move on with younger players.

Okay, let me ask you a question. Why didn't Mahrez get selected to start in any of the following games towards the end of last season?

Arsenal at home, 4-1
Bayern at home, 3-0
Bayern away 1-1
Real away 1-1
Real home 4-0
united cup final 2-1
Inter CL 1-0.

The biggest games.

Not sure where I said most academy forwards could do what Mahrez does? I'm not saying Mahrez isn't good, this isn't about that. He just isn't key, I don't see how anyone can deny that. He wasn't picked in the biggest games, he played in lesser games towards the end of the season. Something other younger talented players could manage.

There are games he has a big impact in, but if City don't think Palmer could get to that level with regular games, then there's no point persisting with him, we may as well sell him now.

Foden could certainly do well there as did Bernardo.

Alvarez is different. He isn't as reliable in possession, but has way more desire and energy than Mahrez.
