Great point made on 5 live yesterday. Why on radio/TV traffic bulletins are road conditions regularly described "treacherous" The roads don't appear to be backstabbing or trying to kill the queen. Fair point I thought!!!

yep,no treason involved,but in common usage it does a fair job of describing the situation.For those trapped for hours,i doubt they care about semantics,more likely to be along the lines of'What is it about this country,snow brings havoc every year and nothing changes,no-one gets sacked,and national radio makes a joke of it?'
