Robbie Fowler (City Related)

Horrible scouser - never liked him.

Along with Cole, mcmanaman.

Made more of an effort than Mcminimum. He embraced a our hatred of the scum and winding up Gary chuckle was always enjoyable.

I enjoyed his goals against the scum but he made it about liverpool by running past them showing 5 fingers to make it anout the scouse scum

He didn’t embrace our hatred, it was his own Scouse hatred to them. As the poster above said he’d hold 5 fingers for the European cups.

He wasn’t arsed about playing football when he was with us. He went in Keegan’s office and told him he was retiring and Stuart Pearce talked him out of not doing it.

Seemed like a dream ticket pairing Anelka and Fowler up top, how wrong we were.

Totally agree...i remember shouting like fuck at both these 2 players for their lazy arsed attitude. Not even bothering to chase a loose ball near the corner of the East stand one match left me absolutely mental.

Funnily enough he was in the team when City actually won at Anfield. He looked gutted when Nico scored at the end and didn't celebrate.

I was excited when we signed him, thinking that if he could even regain a bit of his early Liverpool form then him and Anelka could be a devastating partnership for us. It became pretty clear early on that his legs were gone though, and he'd never be the same player again. There were still some highlights, mainly his goals in the 3-1 and 4-1 derbies, but they were few and far between. Can see why Bernstein was so opposed to the signing. Never really hated him like some in this thread though. Just thought he was a huge disappointment.

Fowler said in his book Anelka wouldn’t even pass to him and wasn’t a popular member of the squad as he would start on youth team players in training.

Christ we made a rod for our backs with our transfer policy back then. Think Anelka cost 13 million and Fowler 5 million which was a hefty whack back in 2002, left us with nothing to spend and we ended up with the absolute bag of shite of Mills, Corradi, Dabo and Andy Cole.

The darkest hour is just before dawn I suppose in how it’s worked out.

Didn't Bernstein object to the transfer because he was over weight, unfit and not worth the money the club paid. He resigned over this iirc.

Yes you're right. And so was he.
