Yeah I don't love (or hate) him either, it's just I've seen a lot of comments over the pages building up to my post, so I was wondering if I was missing something by not thinking he was the devil or something.
The standard of club football has really accelerated away from international football over the last decade. Tactics are too evolved, and as you said in an earlier post there's just no time to replicate it at international level.
International football is full of managers whose best traits are more in line with man management than tactics. There's a reason why none of the best managers manage countries, Luis Enrique aside. Although Mancini is a very very good manager, his stock was at its lowest ever when he took the Italy job.
I don't want to take away from Mancini. Italy were comfortably the best team at the Euros and he played a huge role in that. But the competition he had was dire, which is a reflection on international football more than anything.
