Roberto Mancini

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Gave us our pride back...and at the direct expense of bacon face and the rags.

So many fcuking brilliant experiences.

Thank you Bobby Manc.

Forsa Mancini....Viva Pellegrini.

CTID.

Good for three years as far as the first team goes but his record in Europe was below what was expected by most.

Obviously paid little or no attention to taking an active interest in youth and having input into youth development.

Nothing to be gained by blowing your own trumpet after you have been shown the door.

Would have him all over again if no one better was available after Leslie was moved on but had to go.

Wouldn't want him back.
Pelligrini appears to have zero interest in bringing through youth team players

Many including us have mentioned this before but its clear MP dedicates more time to looking at the under age teams but one can summise on two things.

The pressure to get results and meet targets wanes on the desire to risk game time in league and European games unless it is absolutely necessary.

MP and PV don't think any of the players are ready for first team action yet.

Its Catch 22 but MP thinks none are good enough for the teams he puts out at present.

Here we go again.

How many threads on Mancini has the OP started now?

Mancini is a legend. A couple of mouth breathers with their little agenda on an internet forum isn't going in the annals of MCFC history, Mancini is.

There is a Bob thread in the general forum for those feeling the need.

This is for all things City, Bob is no longer City!

I'm sure the mods will deal with this heinous crime.

We've already got faux mod fantasyireland, we don't need any more.

They say you never get over your first love, and let's be honest, after decades of watching shite managed by shite, Mancini was an absolute god and the 1st manager whose leaving this club broke my heart!

So in short, the OP is not in the minority but I accept things move on!

It breaks my heart when we dwell on the past ( only joking I couldn't give a toss TBH ).

No room for sentiment when it comes to managers or players to some extent.

As long as we are on a path to trending upwards improvement wise at the senior level , the under age level and the all important financial aspect to this emotional game that's all we should concern ourselves about.

You wouldn't need us if you could all just stick to the one thread instead of starting a new one every other day.

No need to thank me.

He put us back on the map and will go down as one of the most important men in our history. But I don't pine for his return, he just isn't a top-of-the-line coach, he's better at building up projects with cash. Inter haven't been very good since returned. They just signed Podolski and Shaqiri and managed to lose to Torino at the San Siro last weekend.

He was manager when we broke the 44 year cycle but without the owners , without the brokers , without Shinawatra being who he was and what he was there would have been no RM.

Definitely a place in history but lets not beat around the bush its ADUG that gave him everything he needed to get that place.

A number of others would have done the same but he was in the right place at the right time and I thank him that.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Never understood the bitterness that some of our fans had towards him

Gave us one of the most exciting moments of our history, and yet a few people have judged him on 'here-say'

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Loved Mancini but this sort of stuff I don't like! he should be quite!

It's like hey city have a big game Saturday let's go and stir it up by getting an interview with Mancini, He's always good for a quote or 2..

Oooohhhh, that makes me all warm inside.

Keep chopping the wood boys.....

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Just caught the interview and Bobby in 'being nice to everyone mode'. Always good to see the Bobster bless him. Will be fun to see what he does with Inter as when it comes to building a successful team and squad there are few better.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Takes a good team to a top team but cant take it further to elite (Neither can Pellegrini in my opinion either)

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Mancini was like a girl you go out with who's fun and wild but you know she's not settling down material. You have some great times together and she's tremendous in bed, but can be really volatile and you're never quite sure what she's up to when she's not with you.

You'll always have the memories that put a smile on your face and she made a man of you but you know that she's not really someone for the long term.

Made me chuckle and there is a lot of truth in it.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

We loved him. He still loves us. Did his best and brought us success. End of story. Don't get the ill feeling between fans towards him. His season after winning the title wasn't great. This one isn't exactly spellbinding is it ?

Same here. I suspect they were predominantly a bit more more interested in trying to be proved right on an internet forum than in supporting City.

Due to the timing, the 6-1 and the way we won the title, he'll probably always be my favourite manager but it was the right time to replace him by all accounts. I wish him all the best.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

lets cut to the chase. bobby buries pellers. no great shame he buries most people. he tore the GPC a new one to boot.

Extremely true and a great post. to take your analogy to another level, Balotelli was like an absolute stunner of a woman who you know full well wouldn't last. Absolutely gorgeous but a complete psychotic bitch who drove you to the point of despair.

When she was in a good mood, she looked stunning and turned heads wherever you took her. When she had a drink at a family party though, the mask slipped and your family and friends started to see the real her.

When you split, it was probably for the best. She moved away and you put it all down to experience. The last thing you expected was for her to move in with the chav bastard down the road. She looks a bit rough these days and shows her true colours more often but you can remember her when she had a glint in her eye and was explosive in bed.

We have a side to our fan base that I always think of as the "Colin Schindler wing".

It's not Mancini per se they have a problem with. It's the idea of ANYBODY finally bringing success to our club. He ruined their little bubble of "I'm cool me, I support city, and they're like, you know, all rubbish and everything"

Probably every club has them.

It wouldn't have mattered one iota if we had appointed Pellers when we appointed Mancini. They would simply have hated HIM instead. Or mourinho, or guardiola. It wouldn't have mattered. Whoever killed off "little City" was always going to get it from them, sat behind their keyboards in the Admiral tracksuit tops.

For the record I adored Mancini, all the more so because in this modern day and age he wasn't afraid of or intimidated by anybody. Not his millionaire players. Not the size of the job he was brought into do. And not Any other managers.

He's gone though. I think it was a monumental mistake to sack him the way we did. We sent a message out to all the (present and future) city players that "YOU are bigger than the club. And the manager"

We're paying the price for that this season as well.

Fuerza Pelligrini, but Mancini will ALWAYS be "the one"
