But there is better news on Robinho, the striker missed out with a further ankle problem for the Blues’ last game against Forest but should be fully fit for Wigan after further rest with last Saturday’s postponement.

Mark continues: “Robbie would have been close to playing last weekend, he definitely would have played some part. He trained yesterday and will train for the rest of the week.”

The other recent injury concern, Shaun Wright-Phillips, is still doubtful after the hamstring strain sustained in the FA Cup defeat:

“Shaun was out with the fitness guys yesterday and did a session, but obviously he is not at full tilt yet. We’ll build him up towards the weekend, but it is still quite early after a hamstring injury, but we will give him every chance and hopefully he will be a option.”

Looks like Swp is 50/50.

Great. Let's hope the Wigan Bullies don't hack him down and injure him again, wouldn't put it past those scumbags.

it's good news to see the two of them back soon, we need them for every game really.

too right mate,

i hate to say it but we'd be utterly fucked without them, its been a shite season so far but we'll be ok as long as we keep our best 2 lads fit and find some form, its a scary thought though when you think about what a bad injury to rob or swp could do to us

we need to strengthen this january and i have faith in us doing so, money talks thesedays afterall as much as it sounds heartless to the game for saying that, its about time us fans reaped some rewards for our loyalty and the initial highs of the take over

They said SWP was 4-5 weeks at first, but then realised the injury wasn't as bad as they first thought, so i would be very happy if we got him back fully fit for the newcastle game
