Maybe you wouldn't, but the poster said..."In contrast, the really bad post takeover signings were Santa Cruz, Bridge, and arguably Shay Given...."I wouldn’t have him down as bad, just average. So very average.

Yep. I thought the same, but looking back, I don't recall much disappointment when Hart replaced him in 2010.

Shay Given; a bad signing? Go on then, I'll bite. Please explain.
Wasn't Given out with a shoulder separation or something so was going to be on the shelf a long while? I thought I remember Hart got a run in and it was obvious pretty quickly he was better (certainly younger and English).
I do not think this is correct bud. I say that because look at Ronaldinho, look at Yaya (at Barca), Nasri, Hart. All very vocal players who tend to have problems with authority. They were given the boot as soon as he could get them out the door.
Not a prayer for him in this team lazy fuckerHow do you think he would have done under Pep if we signed him in present day conditions?
He was supposed to be Brazil's next big thing and while he has 100 caps to his name, he fell well short of the billing. Not to do with talent because his natural talent which he showed at Santos, Madrid and his first year in an average team here could be mindblowing. Application and ethic definitely held him back but that's why I ask the question because a 24 year old Robinho when we signed him from Real Madrid had the world at his feet and if he were in this City team with this manager driving him on every day I think he'd have gone to the very top.
