Starts tonight for Spain against the Ukraine. Torres on the bench, Zinchenko starts for the visitors.

He looks great when the midfield around him is mobile. Yesterday in Lucho's system he looked great because Thiago and Mikel Merino were alongside, the more mobile midfielders, Thiago obviously world class but Rodri held his own. Pep will no doubt help him become better this season.

By pairing him with Gundo in most the big games?

Exactly. Busquets was so good for Barca for about a decade because the other midfielders were mobile and worked their ass off, otherwise he would bave been exposed too and never been considered at one point the best DM in the world.

Rodri needs to play in midfield 3 with Bernardo/Foden and De Bruyne as the attacking mids. No more Gundogan, otherwise we might as well sell Rodri.

If we don’t sign a new central midfielder we will probably continue seeing both Rodri and Gündy together in big games, unless Pep has a huge change of heart or we completely switch up our system

Thought he played really well tonight. Every clearance they tried to make in the first half he mopped up every single one.
