Ndombele is not our second choice, don't think City are interested. Most probably Florentino Luis is the fallback option, he has a release clause like Rodri.

You know what happened last time we let someone go on holiday before signing, thinking it was a done deal...

Rodri isn’t in the U21 squad.

Pretty sure he isn’t included in that squad. These are midfielders listed for Spain for the tournament:
Midfielders: Fabián Ruiz, Carlos Soler, Mikel Merino, Dani Ceballos, Mikel Oyarzabal, Igor Zubeldia, Alfonso Pedraza, Dani Olmo, Pablo Fornals

You are right. He withdrew a few weeks ago.

I see that now, but he was called up but player declined with De La Fuente saying Rodri communicated fatigue from the long season

AS also claims that Atletico have already assured the player they will match any wage offer for him so if he leaves, it will not be due to economic reasons

Those sort of quotes are often interpreted as a club clearing themselves of blame before a player departs - telling the fans we did all we could to keep him.
