I think there's a more than even chance that he wasn't the first man to run a mile in less than four minutes, but nonetheless a true milestone (no pun intended) of the modern era, and by the sounds of it, a very productive life.

He did this on the old cinder tracks. Non of the 'new' synthetic tracks for him. If you've never run on them I can tell you they were hard work compared to today.
