Romeo Lavia

Exactly, the one person we brought back, we gave a few games to then flogged him on again, hardly a great example.

Of course, we could be telling these lads we are really just loaning them out in a different fashion and they need the game time in a proper competitive environment (I might be reaching).

I have to say unless I was a real City fan I don't think I'd come back either tbh
Angelino, that did us no favours, we abused him badly.

His only effective movement was from his arms.
The McMahon and Reid partnership were the worlds first double midfield bypass. In possession, such as from a goalkick, or a throw in back to the goalkeeper, those two would stand there, and we'd hoof it up to Niall. Occassionally over the top to Whitey.

Then, when the opponents were in possession, McMahon and Reidy were there to dissuade them from taking the ball anywhere near that part of the pitch. So effective was their 'dissuasion', even some of our own fans stayed away from the ground.

Don’t know if I’m surprised we didn’t match the Chelsea bid or not. No obvious spot for him in the team, but I’d think if Phillips doesn’t work out that he’d be a guy they’d want as a Rodri back-up. Fee is high though and does he want to play backup to Rodri I guess

Added to the original 10m fee. It will be interesting to judge the overall merits of him and the deals after 1 or 2 seasons. He does look good when he plays, but we haven't really got many releases wrong unlike Chelsea!
I think he's been poor defensively, very similar to Rodri 1st season and not tracking runners. He could turn out to be a great player but will he play much at Chelsea

Shite move. Ross Barkley-esque. Fair fucks to Olise for wanting to stay and develop.

& at £58m quid they must be in hysterics down in Southampton

Eh? With Lavia, Caicedo and Fernandez they’ve sorted out midfield for a decade.

Is it just me but that's not the most balanced midfield

Gives Enzo the license to play further forward but it's not the role he is known for, and while Caceido and Lavia are more than JUST defensive midfielders again neither are particularly progressive

On paper yea, 3 top players at a great age...but they are missing something as a trio

How many goals combined from that midfield?

Less than 10 premier league goals?

I don't even think Chelsea needed Lavia, they would have been better off getting a more creative midfielder and then bringing in a back up like Tyler Adams for 20m to cover Caicedo.

We've picked up a very handy sum as part of this for basically doing nothing. Good business!
By the way, I hope the press and media will bending everyone's ear this season about how Chelsea are simply made of money, and their success is entirely bought. English transfer record broken twice in successive windows. Not bad going. Every time Enzo Fernandez and Moses Caicedo touch the ball in a match I want to be reminded how much they cost.

They have paid nearly 3 times his true value, but the market is off its tits and he's an excellent prospect who will improve hugely.
