if you are unaware of this Rule:
<a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooney_Rule" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooney_Rule</a>

Now the Rooney Rule is over in The USA and relates to the NFL. teams have to interview minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation opportunities.

In this country, there are not many Ethnic Minorities in Football (excluding players)
So Coaches, Managers, and Senior figures in The F.A
Very Few Ethnic Minorities hold these positions.

My question is: are City's Owners victim of racial prejudice?

We aren't just hated because we have bought many players, but we are hated by the mainstream media and many fans of other clubs because of our owners Ethnicity, and possible Religion?

Which other club is owned by Ethnic Minorities?
BlackBurn Rovers...

They have been continually ridiculed since the takeover at Ewood Park.

Thoughts.....

No, I think that link needs much more evidence before you can say that.

IMO City are hated because we are buying success (the only way the cartel at the top can be broken, admittedly, but football fans are conservative and consider it unjust)

Blackburn are ridiculed because 1/ their owners are clueless, as demonstrated by the sacking of Allardyce with no backup plan, their misguided belief that they can break the top 4 and the haphazard transfer policy this summer. 2/ They are clearly mostly interested in exploiting the commercial utility of the club to advertise their products in India. ADUG by contrast, are at least interested in building something amazing.

I think with the general public there is an underlying, almost subconscious, tendency to become 'more easily displeased' with clubs that have foreign ownership. I don't think this is outright racism or anything of the kind. I think it's more of an institutional favouring of things that are fully British. Not because there is anything that they particularly dislike about people from overseas but more to do with a feeling of authenticity that comes with a club that's run by people who grew up in the surrounding areas. A feeling of them 'caring' about the club more and being able to associate with the way people think in this community.

Of course we know that's a load of twaddle. The place the owners are from has no bearing on how much they truly care about the club. I do believe a lot of the general public, and the media, tow this line though.

I think the reason people dislike our club is because we've become successful and we've got one thing very few clubs have: money. However, I think the fact our owners are from Abu Dhabi does somewhat further people's dislike in some cases, and makes it much easier to perpetuate this stereotype of us having a 'sugar daddy that cares nothing for English football'.

Just my opinion of course.

I'm not in favour of the "Rooney rule". So called "positive" discrimination is still
discrimination albeit officially sanctioned.

How any form of discrimination can be called positive is beyond me

Linguistic gymnastics, BB. Yer can have any set of words mean anything these days, regardless of what my trusty OED says.

It is clear though that media do play a subtle race card when discussing our owners the "Arabs".

They play to the stereotype and get mixed up between Dubai and Abu
Dhabi and they even get mixed up to who the owner and Chairman are and the relationships involved at the club.

I heard them laughing on talksport about how many matches are owner has seen well he also helps runs a country so we are just part of what he does but the he's paying "£1 billion a match hahaha" does our owner a huge disservice.

I think that the media like to portray our owners as "rich arabs as living in the desert with camels" rather than the immensely intelligent, business savvy people that they are

I think that we are victims as many times "pundits" and "journalists" have simply called our owners "Arabs" which I find to be a rascist comment towards our owners as they have names like any other person and aren't just
Other football fans call us "Oil FC" and worse things but I have learnt to ignore it as I know that I am a true blue who will support City no matter what and the opinion of some rag twat means nothing as I will always love City
Another chest nut they like to bring out is "All City fans are glory hunters" no we aren't glory hunters we have supported City through all sorts of ups and downs over the years and never stopped loving City and we never will stop
But these twats only say these things as they are either jealous of our great owners and what they have done for us, or they are scared of what we can do this year

As an American who has seen the rooney rule in action, it hasn't actually made that much of a difference. It just means a token black assistant coach is added to the interview schedule. It is ridiculous to go through the process when the owner know who they want to hire and was just planning on offering the job without interviewing candidates.

At the same time, it was completely idiotic 15 years ago when you had 30 NFL teams with all white head coaches, when every team was 60-80 percent black.

Oddly when I was in the US I got into it with as Fox Sports blogger who suggested that the reason the rag fans hated the Glazers was that English fans are raciest and they couldn't stand the thought that their club could be owned by someone from outside Manchester. I made the point that Chelsea at the time had overseas ownership(this was about 6 years ago)and they were loved and it was much more likely that the reason the Glazers where hated was that they were/are crooks of the highest order and not looking to do anything other than milk the club as long as they can/could.

It's often the case and much more so in the US that people will play the racism card. In the case of City it is much more likely it’s because the media is driven by sales we are not popular with many clubs and fans because of our good fortune, people like to read about what they believe and not what challenges them. As for Blackburn, their bad press lays firmly in the fact that their new owners are total and utter nitwits who have taken a mid-table club and turned it into one that are odds on to go down inside 12months. To me that’s got more to do with the fact they don’t understand football operation than their colour.

The term Arab isn't racist, Arabs call themselves Arabs

It is racist that the papers do not call our owners by their names
You wouldn't call Aston Villa's owners "Americans" for example would you
But our owners are just known as "Arabs" which I think is wrong as they have names like any one else
