I don't particulary like him either but I think he could do a job for us. We put up with Barton's antics for long enough and he was an average player - I would put the club before my own personal bias towards any player (even a granny shagging cheating low life like Rooney)

BIG NO for me, our owners, are laying down a clear code of conduct for players and managers for that matter! Mario... gone, Mancini... gone.... Tevez.... gone. no player is bigger than the club, and if they don't conduct themselves on and off the pitch accordingly, then, out, so there's no way Rooney fits in with this picture, think Kompany, Aguero ( apart from that Luis stamp) etc.. who conduct themselves well on and off the pitch, don't put themselves in difficult positions off the pitch that would cause embarrassment to themselves and club.
If you look at the way teams harangue the ref when decisions don't go their way, UTD have been, and prob, still are the biggest culprits, Rooney, the main chief of the foul mouthed rant at ref, player, camera etc...
So... NO WAY!!!
