Anyone used it? I'm planning on learning French and this appears to be the top kit. If you have used it, any chance you can let me know if it is as good as it says it is. Or, have you used another bit of kit for learning French? Don't want to go to a college.

A mate of mine got it to learn Italian for work. Said it was really easy to get into and well worth the money. He's just got the German one and reckons he's flying through that as well.
Thanks for that. Sounds good, as long as your mate isn't the 'Good Will Hunting' of languages!

why bother?

just point and shout, they will only mock your bad pronunciation

Quality........you're probably right about the pronunciation as well, but you can only try!

your right mate

beat 'em at there own game

they have one thing right though, drinking outside tends not to be an issue over there

i'd love to go down to my local park with a 3 ltr bottle of cider, but apparently it's frowned upon.

You live in the wrong part of town then. Go to Burnage, as it's practically frowned upon to sit in a park without a 3 litre bottle of White Lightning!

That'd be nice, as they are expensive. I'm not going to pay top whack for it anyway, as I was hoping to bid on one on ebay and hopefully get it for about £220.

Why don't you get a job in France and live there for a year whilst learning on the job?
That's how I did it.

Nice idea, but I have skills that would get me a job in France. Also, I'm into my 23rd year in the Army and there are no jobs in France for me! Mind you, we could invade...

I was only joking mate (as you probably guessed) and I've forgotten half the stuff I learned, it was 15 yrs ago. It's nice been able to chat with people at a markets and in bars etc.

I've never heard of Rosetta Stone until this thread, I'd love to refresh my French and learn Spanish. Good luck with it...Invasion might not be a bad idea, it'd be the easiest war we've had for a long time.

My brother got that in Spanish before he went to South America said it was the biggest waste of money ever. He got by with it but found that because he had some Spanish they were asking him questions that he hadnt got a clue about. Since he has come home he has gone on a course to learn Spanish and is finding that 100 times better than Rosetta Stone and cheaper as well. Look at your local college for a starter course and progress that way.

This. Rosetta is ok if you are doing a course at college otherwise it is a waste of money or bandwidth. If you want to learn a foreign language then skype is your friend, an internet search will put you in touch with people who want to learn English and they will teach you their language.

There is a local college that does it, but I'm a lazy sod and can't be arsed going. Might have to review it. Mind you the college course is quite cheap, so it'd probably be better to make a mistake with that than spend over £200 (if I can get it cheap on ebay)....bollox, I'll just take the earlier advice and point and shout!
