I have no issue with Lizzie as a head of state, I have issue with this extended family bollocks.

Keep a monarchy, let them have a palce for appearance sake (only one they don't need several).

Limit the monarchy priverlage to

Reigning morarch and partner

Heir to the throne.

They can share the palace and get paid a wage for their service like any other government worker.

All other family members can look after themselves as normal citizens.

All profits from tourism, crown lands and official royal merchandise go into the treasury.

The queen/king and crown prince/princess are allowed though to profit from personal merchandising of their particular brand.


This is not a slight on the queen, who I have respect for in many ways, Lizzie is alright by me, as is Anne and Harry tbf.

If she truly loved her country she could do that from a flat in Harpurhey just as well as she could from Buckingham Palace.

Can you name a paper that everyone can respect? I’ve not particularly followed the detail of this story but if it’s something that reflects poorly on the royal family then it is maybe no surprise that there is a clear divide in the reporting. I wouldn’t expect the likes of the Express or Mail to take the same line as the Guardian or Mirror

I expected to see a divide but it appears to be literally the Mirror and Guardian only, I googled it and looked at the news and those are the only two popular UK papers I could find.

The protection that Andrew is getting from his status is vile. The accusations are substantial and concerning. The buck stops with his mother. The royals had close freinships with Saville, Harris and Stuart Hall. I am sure they would all have been vetted. Something stinks. They are far from benign as some would have us believe. They lack real scrutiny as an arm of the constitution.
As Trump has shown, an awful lot of people can be fooled for a lot of the time.

I have a deep admiration for the Queen herself. Anne , whilst living a life of extreme privilege comes across as a decent enough cove, Harry is someone I believe cares genuinely about people less fortunate than himself which is I suspect a big reason the hierarchy of ‘the firm’ have seen fit to ostracise him. Marrying a divorced, single parent, beautiful, strong, woman of colour wont have helped him with the family either.

Andrew is a sex offender. Charles is a boorish knob. William and his pointy-faced woman of a wife are going the same way by the looks of it.

Personally after Her Maj dies I would restructure the civil list to only provide for the monarch and spouse, and direct heir. Pay them the salary of a senior civil servant, throw in Buck house as a grace and favour residence and confiscate any and all other royal abodes and either make them tourist attractions run by the national trust with all profits going into the welfare coffers or charge the going rate back to the family if they want to rent them on an annual basis.

If they start crying that they can’t afford to live, give them the same answer gammons are fond of giving young single mothers from council estates “if you can’t afford your family you shouldn’t have procreated so much”

A lot of reasonable thoughts in here (William is a top lad mind, both Diana’s kids are - I won’t say both Diana’s and Charle’s kids for obvious reasons). It’s hard to say where to limit “the next in line part” mind due to life’s uncertainty unless you’d just “promote” the next in line into this circle?
