Royal Wedding

Because you'd need it for any Head of State, and to a greater level in most instances, i.e. that French President. There's no two ways about it, it's pretty cheap compared to any similar country. Which doesn't mean people should approve of the whole idea, just that cost isn't the best angle of attack, particularly given the monarchy is unusual in offsetting its costs through being a tourist attraction. The French or Italian President is not.

There are better arguments against monarchy, basically.

On the official figures maybe, but add the estimated (cos it's a big secret) £100 million policing costs and the financial stick is suddenly much bigger.

I think Harry and William are both great lads. I reckon their mum would be really proud of them, and rightly so.

I’m fairly neutral on the monarchy. In many ways it’s a ridiculous institution; however, I would say the Queen has been a very effective head of state and the nation will miss her terribly when she’s gone.

Again, that doesn't disappear if you have a Presidency. It stays the same.

Early days but if it’s a girl the bookies have Diana as the favourite name, if it’s a boy will it be James after his Dad ?
