Ours isn’t ridiculously high though, there are 2 succesful teams that play as high or higher, as have we up to 20119, Liverpool and Bayern, they just do it better than we have for a year. Hopefully with Dias and Laporte we get back to doing it better.

Playing with a high line is not a question of the defenders but about the pressing.
That is data from fbref.com about the pressures. The data of the Bundesliga is adjusted to match the 4 more matches the EPL has. For top teams the pressuring in the attacking third to get early turnovers and to be able to play with that high line is probably the most important. City is worse in the success rates and pressures less in the Attacking Third to Bayern and Liverpool. Bayern includes the data of the first match days with Kovac - if you take the time with Flick the data per match should even be higher.

(And you have to have a solution if the press does not work or is overplayed - that is when defenders come into play. But they are just one piece of the solution when your press does not work.)

There's pressure on Dias immediately to perform, the vultures are circling and every misplaced pass, ball going past him will be lapped up by our gutter press and rival bellend fans. All the best of luck Ruben, you're going to need it.

Isn't any worse than Koulibaly or Kounde
I really hope you’re right. I’m certainly rooting for him.

Kounde looks like he reads the game well, has great feet and a good eye for a pass. Dias looks tall and strong, but looks a bit clumsy and awkward on the ball to me. Really hope I’m wrong.

By all accounts Dias is mentally strong and precisely this is what we need at the back. Calmness, confidence, decisiveness. Walker is strong physically but he isn't calm and is panicking at times. Same with Stones.

No it doesn't as they were separate deals, they just happened to involve just the two clubs.
That's correct but Dias's impact on this seasons finances will be around £15m and as Otamendi will have been paid for already his will be plus £15m. Net result this year no additional impact assuming wages of both are the same.
