That's correct but Dias's impact on this seasons finances will be around £15m and as Otamendi will have been paid for already his will be plus £15m. Net result this year no additional impact assuming wages of both are the same.

No it doesn't as they were separate deals, they just happened to involve just the two clubs.

I agree, but I think it's worth acknowledging that it's doubtful we'd have been getting a £15m fee for Otamendi from anyone else. I think it's quite likely that the two fees are linked and were agreed as part of the same negotiation.

Plus the accounting treatment is different this way.

If we'd have paid £45m and given them Otamendi for free then we expense £9m in the accounts this year.

If we buy Dias for £60m and sell Otamendi for £15m then we expense £12m for Dias year but we can offset it against the profit we make on Otamendi.
