Rugby Clubs in South Manchester

Anybody play rugby on here? Looking for a club to join for the new season, would appreciate any recommendations from blues as I know that some clubs just enjoy your membership fee and are clique-ridden.

Didn't play last season as I concentrated on my boxing but played before that, I prefer playing at 8 but can do a job on the second row too.

I could use google but would prefer personal recommendations from any blues ITK about good clubs in the area. Looking for a good social scene as well.

Knutsford Rugby club is meant to be good, don't play myself but some pals do and I go down and watch when time permits. Seem to have a good social side/ and it's a pretty lively night out round there too.

Broughton Park play at the same place as Mancunians, they're union.

Around South Trafford there are loads of union clubs:
Bowden (which isn't in Bowden, it's on Clay Lane in Timperley)
Kersall (Timperley)
Sale
Ashton upon Mersey (Sale)
Trafford Metrovics (Sale)

There's also Lymm which is on the way to Warrington.
 
I'm not into union but my mate used to play
for Broughton Park in Chorlton and I'd go down if City
weren't playing and it was a very well run club.

Loads of kids teams and free coaching for the locals and
the one thing I can vouch for personally was you couldn't
complain about the social scene after the game.

It's next to Hough End PF and the Police Club these days if you're
interested.
 
What sort of standard are you looking to play at? I play for Bolton so don't venture far into Manchester to play, only cup games etc... Decent clubs that I have played against would be Burnage, Didsbury Toc H, Old Bedians (about 200 yards down the road from Toc H) Trafford Metrovic, and Altrincham Kersal if you are looking to play at a higher standard.
