Rugby League Season 2023

You’ve got the Channel 4 games aswell. Although I think they’ve only got 10 games across the season.

Not been paying full attention but I think they’ve dropped showing all the Catalan home games that were Saturday tea time. I’m guessing that was some deal with the French broadcaster, outside of the contract between Sky and Super League. They probably just got a cheap deal that’s ran out because it wasn’t like a normal Sky show. It was just taking the pictures from the host broadcaster. There was no pre show or interviews. I’m pretty sure the commentators were just watching it on TV and commentating from a studio in England.
I think Catalans home games are now shown on OurLeague but I’ve never signed up for it (always forget).

Catalans were well on top in the first half. Saints scored off the back of getting three penalties in three sets on the Catalans line, two of which weren’t penalties. Catalans then were called for a forward pass just before the break that didn’t look it for love nor money and they were through for a try had that not happened.

As Jon Wilkin said, it should have been ‘nil’ for Saints and more than 8 for Catalans at the half.

Was that bad that Steve MacNamara came down pitch side to confront the ref at the half time hooter.

I heard the comment from the commentators about MacNamara having a word with the match commissioner (?), and that it was thought to be about one call.

The ref missed a fairly blatant ball rip late on as well.

I've said before that forward passes seem to be called randomly just like 'six again', with other things being let go all the time (the third man flop onto a downed man is commonplace now and never penalised).

They getting what they wanted this season at long last anyway,Catalans to potentially win the league shield at least again

Scrapping relegation eased that cause many years back, gave them the rope and hope and look now, this competition in general in this country is shit now compared to what it used to be like

MacNamara went straight to the officials commissioner at half time the decisions were so bad and obvious against Catalans . Pundits and commentator frightened to say the truth just sitting on the fence , really really poor from Sky . Just shows how Sky manipulate situations in Super League just the same as a global force like the English football Premier League.

Wire and Wigan noticeably not as good as Catalans and Saints seeing both games on consecutive nights.

Wire have got no discipline at all.

Ben Currie played well for half an hour last week against Sts, but he’s back to his ‘do absolutely fuck all’ self tonight, and we’ve just given him a new three year contract.

Mata'utia is the same, does bloody nothing.

Thankfully I missed it tonight. 8 defeats in the last 11 league games is shite.
We aren’t as good as that 8 game winning run to start the season and probably aren’t as bad as 8 defeats in 11. We are probably somewhere in the middle and are probably in a rightful position in the table that shows a true reflection of about how good we are.

We’re probably between the 4th to 8th best side in the league, we’re currently 5th and and we’ll finish somewhere between those placings.

Just got back from DW after a 20 minute walk down canal :))
Wigan absolutely shite first half but much better 2nd half despite the ref giving Warrington everything. Real pattern emerging with the officiating and Sky wanting close games ………

Roll on next season Wigan aren’t good enough to win anything this season.

I think Wigan could win the CC. Could be a Wigan Borough final!

The ref was terrible tonight for both teams. The call for offside on Currie before Wigan’s opening try was wildly wrong, Wigan pulled back for a forward pass that was a try (don’t think the touchy even gave it as forward that knob with the whistle just fancied blowing it), Minikin being legally pushed into touch but Wigan penalised, Vaughan given a penalty against him for laughing at a Wigan player which was a truly unbelievable decision, both teams slowing the ruck down far too much and the ref doing nowt, both teams off side all the time and the ref doing nowt… inept display by the ref.

Wigan, scrappy but deserved winners; Wire look to have serious fitness, concentration and discipline problems.

Wire led in both games against Saints and Wigan and just faded badly in both games. And against Cas, we got it back to 14-14 but shipped another 9 points in the last 10 minutes. And that happened about ten times last season n’all (Salford at home we lost from about 20 points up with 20 mins to play and Hudds away about the same and lost both).
