Rugby League Season 2023

From what I've seen, players have taken to getting into a premeditated position and swinging to hit with the point of the shoulder first with the nominal armwrap sometime afterwards.
Get it slightly wrong, and it'll be a red card. It's happened a few times this season as players seem not to learn, or at least prioritise the initial hit. I think it's the premeditation that tends to make the punishment more severe.

I didn't see yesterday's live and only once in replay.

No matter what happens,Wigan RLFC are the finest rugby league club ever to play the game in this country, still the club everyone hates, fantastic, when I think back when younger what I witnessed them do,was something that will never be matched.

And as for the players I've seen, wow, just talent from 1-13 each week for years and years.

The saying used to be anyone but Wigan, which seems apparent on here still to this day, well you can shove your Warrington Wolves never won anything of significance for years, same these days for Leeds as well.

Edwards,Hanley,Gill,Lydon,Gregory,Botica,Offiah,Tuigamala,Betts,Farrell,Robinson to name but a few, absolute class, and will always be considered that as well.

Never a red card in a million years . Hull KR player conned the officials and made a miraculous recovery about 2 seconds after the red card came out and NO head assessment ???? Liam Moore officiating again he is truly shite !!!! Game changing decision , Wigan players out on their feet last 10 mins a player down . All said and done Wigan messed up an easy drop goal chance on 71 minutes which would have won them the game despite the huge controversy.
That is textbook Grade B-C high tackle, right in the neck/chin.

As soon as he turned his head to the side and lead with his shoulder, it’s classed as a reckless act that can injure even though he wasn’t intentionally going to injure him.

It could have have been a Sin Bin but is an undoubted red card in rugby union and I suppose a soft red in League and I can see why they sent him off as soft as it was.

The only con that Lewis did was pretending he didn’t need to go off for a HIA. When he hit the deck he was fractions away from being knocked out, look at his eyes when you see it again, his eyes rolled up and he was very nearly gone.

Lewis was actually looking at the ref and got up as soon as the red came out . Absolute con merchant .

You sound like a copycat United/Liverpool fan in football. That’s the same shite they spout.

You could replicate what you’ve written there and take it off RAWK;

If everyone cared about how good a club Wigan are or what Wigan have won in their history or what legends Wigan have had playing for them; everyone would be a Wigan fan and nobody would support any other teams. But they don’t. Just like not everyone supports United and Liverpool in footy.

The reason other fans don’t like Wigan isn’t because they’re the ‘finest club’, it’s - just like in footy with the redshirts - that their fans think of themselves as that and bang on about it, always with belittling of everyone else.

City also didn’t win anything of significance for years, just like Wire, both actually went 35 years without a major trophy until Wembley Cup wins in 2010 and 2011… so what are you saying about City? City won just two league titles in our first 118 years, Wire have won three in their history, so what are you saying about Manchester City Football Club’s first 118 years and what kind of club we were?

I always find it very insecure from United and Liverpool fans when they have to justify their clubs’ standing in the game by saying how much better they are than everyone else. That’s what you’re doing here which is surprising coming from a City fan as I always think City fans would take their way of supporting City into the way they might follow clubs in other sports.

Great post.

I did laugh at the digs in the post above though, Leeds won the Challenge Cup in 2020 and were Super League champions in 2017 and Warrington won the cup in 2019.

Wigan are the Man U of Rugby League. Run by a shady character in the 80's who pressured the league into changes to suit them. Arrogant entitled fans who look down on fans of other clubs, who now do nothing but reminisce about their dominance in their glory period. There dominance was mainly down to poaching the best players with big money from other clubs like Lydon, Offiah and Gregory from Widnes, Hanley from Bradford.

Was a home and away Warrington fan until Sky changed it to the summer season and without doubt Wigan were the best team in that era. It did help that they were the only fully professional club at that time. No issue with the team, the fans however were the most entitled in sport, there was no finer sight than seeing the famous Wigan walk if their darlings happened to be losing.

Love it lol .
I moved to Standish Wigan in 2014 , was born in Stretford lived in Stretford / Urmston and Davyhulme all my life . My dad is from Whalley Range side of Old Trafford he took me and our kid to Maine Rd when I was 8 years old to see Colin Bell , Mike Summerbee etc etc . We both became lifelong blues home and away from late teens and sc holders for decades . I was introduced to Wigan Warriors by my current wife who has been a Wigan fan all her life along with all her family her brother was a rugby league player and has played in Australia and now coaching the youth team at a super league club . I embraced Wigan Warriors and the fans and my wife then girlfriend back in 2013 bought me a Warrior’s season ticket . It’s a town full of tradition and characters a very proud rugby league town . We have been to Perpignan to watch Wigan play Catalans and also Barcelona Nou Camp for the Catalans v Wigan game . Wigan got twatted in both games but what a laff loved every minute of each trip and the craic unreal , loads of St Helen’s fans and ex players on the Barcelona trip one of whom bought a huge round of beers for all fans in the bar we were drinking in . The rugby league family is something to behold and something I never expected. Wigan are envied because they are the benchmark just like MCFC are today there is absolutely no self entitlement and I certainly haven’t seen any just good old fashioned rivalry and banter from Wigan fans , after all Wigan is an old fashioned as fuck little town god bless it ! :)
