Rule changes you'd like to see for 18/19 season

A player coming back from an offside position and being offside in their own half.

put me in charge of VAR, retrospective bans, referee appointments, fixture schedule, TV games etc.

in all seriousness...

- VAR introduced, VAR official allowed to give decisions and relay them to the match official, VAR officials would be overseas referees and overseen by an independent body.

- Referees mics would be audible to TV audiences, and audio recordings and transcripts of their conversations would be published online post-match. When VAR is used, or for example a penalty is awarded, the mic would be made audible for the crowd.

- All Premier League stadiums would be required to install TV screens to replay VAR incidents to the crowd.

- Each team would be given 2 reviews per game to challenge decisions, if they get one wrong they lose a review, to be used only by captain or the manager (to the 4th official).

- Countdown timer, 80 minute matches and the clock stops every time the ball goes out of play.

- Academy graduates under 21 become a free substitution and don't count towards your 3 subs.

- PGMOL, The PL and an independent body would have to publish a review of each referee's performance after each game. The referees would then be ranked by the combined score and given appointments based on their ranking. A list and ranking of their errors would also be published.

- Referees would have to go on secondment to other UEFA leagues, with European refs coming over here. This allows for a rotation of referees, no referee would be allowed to referee the same team more than 3 times per season, and only once in UEFA Competitions. In addition, referees would not be allowed to referee teams near to where they live, or where they have historic links - call it the "Sir Anthony" rule.

- Clubs and fans can cite players/managers for incidents they spot during the weekend that are not picked up by the referee, or receive insufficient punishment. These would be reviewed by the independent body, and a strict upholding of the Laws of the Game would be followed.

- Managers would have to earn a "Premier League license", by earning a sufficiently high number of points due to their performance in other leagues. If they perform poorly in the Premier League, their license would be suspended until they have demonstrated enough performance to return. Exemptions would be made for the promotion of coaches, or managers who are new to the profession. This would be designed to stop the likes of Pardew and Moyes constantly getting re-appointed to jobs.

- 50 Mile Rule: Midweek and night matches must not require away fans to travel a distance greater than 50 miles (stadium to stadium). Exceptions must be agreed by both clubs and fan representatives, and if TV moves a game to a slot where public transport becomes inaccessible to away fans, the TV company must put on free transport for away fans.

- A bonus point for every 5 goals scored, up to 5 goals per game, and not including the final game of the season (to avoid last day match-fixing).

- Round 1 of the FA Cup must split non-league teams and league sides. Non-League teams should only play each other till Round 3 to ensure more non-league teams make it to Round 3, where they would be drawn against Premier League sides (to make it more interesting).

- Clubs whose fans brick opposing teams coaches should play an entire season of home games behind closed doors, be withdrawn immediately from European competition and forfeit all remaining games and receive a 30 point league deduction.

- Teams who play in the same UEFA competition cannot play each other after or between midweek matches in that UEFA Competition.

Some very good ideas, one or two ott, but would get my support

Calculate the time the ball is out of play and add on the true amount of time, maximum of 10 mins unless there is an injury? Could be a solution

Waste too much time at a throw in - other team gets the throw.
Waste too much time at a FK - other team gets an indirect FK.
Waste too much time at a goal kick, other team gets a corner.

I've suggested similar in the past re academy players as free subs (a limited number). I added that it would only apply if they are used with more than say 20 mins, to go, in order to stop people like Mourinho using them to spoil games at the end.

I would also add that if a club doesn't use enough of them over a period of time, they lose a sub place every so often & begin the next season with the number they have left.

The players would have to be at the club from age 16 or younger in order to be eligible.

players that pick the ball up for a throw in and then drop it on the ground or throw it to another player should be given a card.
Get on with it for fuck sakes.
