Running thread

I absolutely love this time of year. I'm surrounded by nature reserves but they are wetlands so not very accessible (and no good for running) for most of the year. Once it warms up, the muddy ground dries out and becomes bouncy which is great for it.

It's beautiful and peaceful so excellent for mental well-being.

I got a 16-miler in this morning and managed to do most of it off-road.

Managed another 11k run in the week - this is after about 8 months of hamstring issue causing me to run just one 5k a week (park run in Norfolk).

Ran a park run at the weekend and felt I had more energy than I've had for a while so I'm hoping these longer runs are helping with my running fitness.

Woke up with a sore throat this morning and was planning another 10k (I'd booked the day off) but feel a bit under weather (ironic given how gorgeous it is outside). Will see how I feel later.

Well done to all who did the GMR yesterday (in hot conditions). I'm feeling chuffed with myself as I got a PB in the half marathon (1:43:57) following a fairly intense 12-week training programme. And still enough time to get home, showered, changed and to the ground to see the Champions crowned!
Well done mate.

I came home in 1:48 which I’m happy with as haven’t trained properly for this and only signed up a month, stopped for a piss after couple of miles, should have gone at start but queues were massive.

Same as you, couple of beers straight after finishing, home, showered met family in City square and had a top day all round. Going back down to 10k distances now for a while to build a bit more speed up.

Completed my 49th Parkrun this morning in 30:39 at Peel Park.
Bit of a hot and sweaty one but took it steady and managed to carry on running with no walk breaks.
Will have to wait 3 weeks until my run 50 milestone as have the small matter of trips to Wembley and Istanbul the next two Saturdays.
