Its been clear that was the case even before now, the question is will people see they have been fooled or continue on the tracks they are stuck on. Unfortunately many people are always happy to profit personally at the expense of others.
There was a phrase I read about scammers which was something along the lines of "it is easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled". People dont like to admit they managed to allow themselves to be duped, it insults peoples intelligence / pride to think it could happen to them so even with overwhelming evidence it can be hard to overcome this feeling, which can cause them to double down on their previous opinions even when illogical.
They dig themselves a hole that is very difficult to get out off without admitting they were wrong in some way basically.
