Russian invasion of Ukraine

If it drags NATO into direct action then all bets are off.
Biggest danger of all is if NATO gets dragged in. Poland and Estonia are jabbing Russia, confident we will have to join their war with nuclear armed Russia due to NATO rules. It is like 1914 again; because a Serb shoots an Austrian in Bosnia, you as a Canadian have to fight Germany in Belgium to help out France. Only this time, interlocking alliances have a nuclear edge.

What has really opened my eyes is how poor the Russian military machine is?

Without Nukes, I'd argue even with our reduced forces, we would have the better tactics and weapons?
Without nukes, even with our depleted military due to successive cutbacks in manpower, we'd absolutely piss it against the Russians. I would never have guessed that a month ago.

@west didsblue at 2.30pm today President Zelinsky specifically stated in an address to the French Parliment 'French companies must quit the Russian Market. Renault, Auchan, Leroy Merlin and others must stop sponsoring the Russian war machine.
Fully agree with him, as should all western companies. That doesn't detract from the point I made about Macron and the French government's 15% stake in Renault.

What the fuck does "Poland and Estonia are jabbing Russia" mean?

Maybe that's why we had the cutbacks, they knew how shit our enemy was.
(That doesn't excuse the navy farce one aircraft carrier no planes)

You have to remember that Russia has the people and technology but they have no combat experience. That goes right up to the top where most Russian generals haven't fired a gun. They're only put there because they're loyal to Putin and most of them will of been sunning on their state paid yachts only 3 months ago.

The fighting on the ground is also not being done by generals and there is no form of leadership. Instead the war is being fought by the usual suspects which is young and naive cannon fodder who are being lied to as to why they are even in Ukraine.

Put it this way, if you give a few 18 year old lads some tanks and send them in against a smaller but well equipped, well trained and motivated force then they'll take a complete battering.

I’d heard a while ago that our f-35’s would have made short work of them.

Didn’t expect that loaning a few anti aircraft weapons to the Ukraine would bring them to their knees.

Judging by the wreckage of the Russian hardware, Leroy Merlin would be their first port of call for self tapping screws and 11mm spanners.
