Fear that as the Ukrainians reclaim the villages and land initially seized by the Russians, then we're going to be reading countless more stories of the slaughter of non-combatants and the wilful destruction of civilian property. The further the Russians retreat, the longer they’ve held these areas as well, so the scenes will probably get worse and worse until they reach the border.

My fear is that the Ukrainian troops at the front of their advance are going to reach village after village and see these horrific scenes and eventually they will catch up to the Russians and there will be an awful revenge carried out.

I know immediately people will say they deserve it, but sinking to their level will only make things worse and doesn’t bring anyone back.
