Most likely just due to it being a soviet statue from someone unrelated to Ukraine, even if it is bad target considering what it symbolises I agree.

The point about them putting the sling in a loop (its not tied as a noose) around the statues neck is someone acting in bad faith to portray them negatively and generate outrage, they are insinuating they put the sling around the neck to mimic hanging, it is just the most sensible place to pull it over from.
 
Astonishing - the Russians are committing harikiri. Moving a huge chunk of their forces to Kherson and leaving the back door open.
Putin is on a par with the worst strategic commanders in history.
