Ruth Madoc

I met her many years ago as I worked with her then son in law, he was married to her daughter and her father was the actor who played the German commander in Dads Army in the famous Dontvtell him your name episode. Very nice lady such a shame, RIP.
The husband of Ruth (and your work colleague's father-in-law) was Philip Madoc. He appeared in loads of TV dramas in the '70/80's. The Dad's Army role was probably his most notorious.
Saw him in Fallowfield when he was appearing in a Play at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
There was a house off Lorne Road that actors stayed at when performing at The Exchange...

Clever man Philip.
