Was a great year for sport. I went to New York that year and one of the Yanks I got chatting to couldn’t speak more highly of the Olympic Games we put on. He said it was easily the best there’s ever been. He was right!

Went to hike in western Canada that summer, and I was simply floating on air for months after 93:20. Went out hiking for the day in Jasper — magnificent hiking territory! — came back to the hostel at the end of the day and was told about Super Sunday by a young Brit working there who was buzzing. That was a fine summer… forgot about the Ryder, but that makes it even better.

Yes. But momentum is huge in this competition. Top 2 games look like a real struggle to come back in so important to win the last which we're ahead in and scrape something from the 3rd if possible!

The Yanks couldn't keep playing as badly as they've done so far. The law of averages would suggest that, eventually, they'd have a middling session. Hold the deficit to two 3-1),and it won't be too bad. They'd still be 5 ahead going into the singles tomorrow. 2 wins and three ties would be "all" that'd be needed.

Whenever I watch the Ryder Cup, I get annoyed by the flippin' blue and red outfits.

They've decided that Europe is team blue, and the US is red.

So, why, whenever I switch it on do I see them all playing in a red and blue mix, or even worse, playing in the opposite colours.

Every flippin' time.

Close out that last point, and team Europe will be in a fantastic position come tomorrow morning. Even a defeat will not be catastrophic. If you'd offered this position to Luke Donald on thursday night, he'd have pulled your arms out of their sockets for it.
